Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the StrongTies application and services ("Service") operated by StrongTies ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using StrongTies, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service Description

StrongTies is a personal relationship management application that helps you maintain and strengthen your personal and professional relationships. The Service analyzes your email metadata and contact information (with your explicit permission) to provide relationship insights, contact classification, and personalized nudges to help you stay connected with the people who matter.

StrongTies is currently in beta. Features, availability, and functionality may change without notice as we continue to develop and improve the Service.

2. Account Requirements

• You must be at least 13 years old to use StrongTies.
• You must sign in using a valid Google account via Firebase Authentication.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and device.
• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
• You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account.

3. Google Account Permissions

To provide its core functionality, StrongTies requests read-only access to your Gmail and Google Contacts. You grant these permissions explicitly through Google's OAuth consent flow. You may revoke these permissions at any time through the app's Settings or through your Google Account permissions page.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its systems.
• Use the Service to harvest, scrape, or collect data about other users.
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our written consent.
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service or any data derived from it.

5. Data Ownership

We use your data solely to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You may export or delete your data at any time through the app's Settings.

6. AI-Generated Content

StrongTies uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to generate relationship insights, contact classifications, and nudge suggestions. AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only and may not always be accurate. You should use your own judgment when acting on AI-generated suggestions.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep StrongTies available and reliable, but we provide the Service on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. As a beta product:

• We do not guarantee any specific uptime or service level agreement (SLA).
• The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.
• Features may be added, modified, or removed at our discretion.
• We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes or planned downtime.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• StrongTies is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities.
• Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.
• We are not responsible for actions you take based on AI-generated insights or suggestions.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StrongTies, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

• By you: You may stop using StrongTies and delete your account at any time through the app's Settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
• By us: We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except in cases of egregious violations where immediate termination may be necessary.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms within the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of StrongTies after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
